Working in Hong Kong as an Expatriate

My working experience in Hong Kong, I can say that is quite challenging compared to working in your own country. Working as an Expatriate or often shortened as Expat, I faced a lot of challenges, pressures, stress and most important of all is how I deal with other Expats too. I can say that this is the hardest experience I’d ever faced on my entire career compared to working in my own country – the Philippines. The expectations from me are big from my employer because they granted me this working visa on which not all professionals could get easily. You must have this unique skills that Hong Kong locals doesn’t have or lacking.

Here are some advantages I will share to you working in Hong Kong.

  • Fast paced environment – this is the real working life; no chit chats, just work hard
  • Going to office is just minutes away from your apartment – Hong Kong MTR is very convenient and fast
  • Working visa will cover your dependents – wife and kids
  • Privilege to apply for Hong Kong ID card – including dependents as well
  • Salary is reasonable to survive living in Hong Kong
  • Challenging working experience with other Expats – different races with different attitudes, just need to go with the flow with them
  • Hong Kong is the gateway if you want to transfer and work in another country – to seek and meet new challenges

I guess you can try to apply to any job portals in Hong Kong and try your very best to convince the employer to sponsor you a working visa. Good luck!
