I will never forget this day February 10, 2016 that my current work as a Front-End Developer/Web Designer for a company located in Oakland, CA has been stopped/paused. Primary reason is no more projects are coming down. This is very unfortunate. Why? Because this is the 2nd time that happened to me on same employer. The first one was last year 2015 and for the same reason – no more projects are coming down or available.

Despite of this unfortunate event happened to me today, I still very thankful to the management to give me the opportunity to work remotely for the company as Front-End Developer/Web Designer. It is hard to find an employer nowadays who will you convince and say “Yes” for a remote work. You should have the skills needed to perform the project tasks assigned to you. In my case, that is one of my strength to do both jobs which are Front-End Developer and Web Designer. I can do both at the same time and not all designers know how to code front-end programming. This pertains to HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, Jquery and Content Management System (CMS) integration like WordPress which is very popular today.

All I know is I have performed my job well, finished all the tasks assigned to me fast but with good quality and never did something wrong. Being honest and frank to work are the 2 things I always apply to work. I don’t want to experience discrimination even I’m Filipino! I will speak up and stand tall being proud who I am. I am a Filipino Web UI Designer and Front-End Developer who can do both jobs at the same time which makes me a strong candidate.

Luckily, another opportunity that is very timing to my work status now fast approaching to me and will find my luck to get sponsored soon to legally work and live in USA for good to give a better life to my wife and baby boy. I won’t give up and will still stand up despite of all struggles and hardships at work. Nobody would drag me down! Nobody… nobody…
